If a child is to be collected by someone other than the parent/carer this must be indicated at the start of the session. Permission and arrangement for children aged eight and over leaving the session alone will be a matter for discussion between the Session Leader and the parents/carer. No child under the age of 8 will be allowed to leave the session unaccompanied. Loss / disappearance of a child In the event of loss/disappearance of a player during the coaching session, the following action should occur: The Session Leader should immediately stop all training and call all Coaches together. A role call of all children should be taken, ensuring that no other children are missing. All children are to be kept on the middle of the playing area by 3 adults (a minimum of 1 of these 3 individuals will be CRB checked). All other adults on site (whether coaches or parents) to search the grounds and roadside for the child – coordinated by the Session Leader. First aid provision First Aid ………. will provide a trained First Aider and First Aid kit suitable for the treatment of very minor injuries e.g. cuts, grazes. In the event of a first aid situation arising that cannot be dealt with by a First Aider or Sports Leader, the first responsibility of the First Aider will be to the health and safety of the casualty whilst the Sports Leader will take responsibility for the health and safety of the other participants. The First Aider will be responsible for summoning emergency assistance or delegating this to a responsible person (relatives or companions if present), using a mobile phone or any nearby landline phone e.g. Clubhouse. Other Session Leaders should attempt to obtain contact details for the casualty if unaccompanied and to ensure that relatives are advised leaving the First Aider to attend to the casualty. The casualty will be kept as comfortable as possible until appropriate first aid assistance arrives. Leaders may have some first aid knowledge that allows them to prevent a casualty’s condition deteriorating, but they have no direct responsibility for the provision of first aid and their primary responsibility in such cases is to hand the situation over to ambulance or NHS trained staff as quickly as possible. Witnesses to the incident should be encouraged to give contact details should it be necessary to obtain third party reports. The First Aider must compile a full report of the incident immediately in the Accident Book. If it is necessary for the casualty to be transferred to hospital or other location, then the First Aider should only accompany the casualty if personnel from Emergency Services instruct them to do so. Absent parents or carers of the child should be advised of the A & E location and estimated time of arrival so that they may go directly to meet with their child. Session Leaders will try and obtain an updated report on the child’s condition after the event unless inappropriate for some reason (which should be documented) in the accident report. 11. Safety Information Check that emergency procedures are discussed and agreed prior to starting the event. Ensure that Session Leaders, helpers and volunteers and have access to information relating to health and safety. Are emergency procedures clear to those with responsibility for the event?
