Presidents Report President Jim Callow that the season was one of what could have been. He thanked all those who were involved in the rugby side, from Minis, Youths to the senior side. The next year was one for building on the foundations laid by Gerry Donnellan and Barry Armatage and to nurture the talent that was coming through from minis and youth rugby in the club. Treasurers Report Colin Martin presented the report. Senior Report/Mini Report. Surplus of 2500 for the year. Subscriptions up from the year before. International Tickets sales down because we only had the two games at home. 1500 from the Gordon Brown trust. Funding of the development officer was covered from the SRU, Gordon Presly. Sponsorship is down from previous year probably because of the credit crunch. There was no money from Belhaven within the sponsorship but they have now agreed to sponsor the club for another two years with 3500 over the two years. Colin will split this between the two years within the accounts. The fete was a good money earner and is being run again this year. The question of members subscriptions was brought up and the fact that the 2nd XV players were not paying their subscriptions. A discussion followed and it was agreed that the next management would discuss methods of obtaining memberships from as many players as possible. Rugby Reports - 1st XV It is easier to stand up this year the season that we have finishing 4th in the league. There was only one game that we could say the deserved to lose and that was Portobello at home. There was not one week where the coaches could pick their best 1st XV due to injuries unavailability etc. Gerry mentioned that he took the job it was for a 5 year stint. He now feels that he has taken the team as far as he can and would hope that whoever takes the job of coach builds on the talent that is inherent in the club. He thanked Barry for his assistance, the players, Gordon Tweedie, Steve Scott took all pre-season. Martin Forrest assisted with the financial side. George Thomson was the first aid. Gerry thanked Keith Courtney for his role as Captain, and to Colin Stuart as vice captain. Player of the year went to Thomas Thornton Smith, young Player Liam Clutton, Most improved Ian Wightman. Gerry did however have a gripe about the number of committee members that would go to the away matches. Gerry thinks that Dunbar do very well in entertaining visiting officials which is not always reciprocated elsewhere. On a parting note Gerry still reckons that the talent and foundation within the club has been set and augurs well for the future. Gerry thinks that National 1 is a realistic target for the club within the next 5 years. Andrew Wightman thanked Gerry and Barry on the players behalf. 2nd XV No Report was available. Playing numbers down from the previous year. This was reflected in the opposition. U16 See Appendix 1. Gordon Presly added to Davids Report with an encouraging review of the year and that the future was good with the number of teams that we have run. Progress has been made this year from last year and the club is going in the right direction. Gerry Donnellan was concerned that the coaches were very young to be coaching the U16s on their own. It was mentioned that there were senior coaches and managers in place that will provide the support that they require. David explained that the structure that will be put in place will provide the foundation that is required and there are further meetings to be held. Minis Mike Perring Mike presented as report to the AGM outlining how the mini section has expanded over the year both in numbers and in talent. There were now a good squad of coaches within the mini section that would allow Mike to move from minis to S1 level and which would still allow the minis section to prosper. Gordon Presly presented Mike Perring with the Fell Bell for his efforts and achievements with the Mini Section. Rugby Development Officer: No Report. Management Positions;- The following people were voted on to roles within the club. President Jim Callow Vice President Billy Low Secretary Alexander Coull Treasurer Colin Martin Social Convenor Mike Perring plus the new social committee Merchandising Bobby Peters Membership Steve Scott Sponsorship Steve Scott 1st xv Captain Colin Stuart Vice Captain Andrew Wightman Mini Rugby Scott Willens Director of Youth Gordon Presly Committee Members Mike Sutherland Ross McKenzie David Wilson Anne Marie Napier Paul McCloskey Any Other Business There was a discussion on a number of items: Discussion on positions both in coaching and management Players involvement in the committee Representation on the committee Subsidy for playing kit Steps that the management are taking with regard to fund raising Coaching position at the moment there was currently no coach in place for the oncoming season. The committee had been working hard to fill the void and would continue to do so. Social side committee should be more prevalent at the events that are organised Dunbar RFC U16 Report for season 2009-2010 Following a successful season in 2008-2010 a squad of 24 players were gathered for the new season. The leagues were split in 2 with the top 4 in each group progressing into play off league for the championship. Dunbar was in the harder of the two leagues with teams comprising Boroughmuir, Currie, Gala, Musselburgh, Biggar, BATS and Lasswade. The season started well with league win away at Lasswade then a home match against Gala who had swept aside all the previous season. Gala went away with a narrow victory with a late try and conversion to wipe out home teams lead. Cup wins against Dalkeith & Penicuik and a demolition job on Peebles saw the boys reach last 16. A home tie against Dundee Eagles saw visitors win 21-5. Dunbar lost narrowly to Boroughmuir and heavily to Musselburgh. Victory against Currie, Biggar & Bats saw a top 4 finish. We had no hesitation in quickly routing N Berwick, Dalkeith-Penicuik and Linlithgow. The final match against Hawick failed to materialise and we gave points to the borders team as they were going for championship. We entertained 3 touring teams with victory against Lincoln Minster who were a very good team. We played a very strong Rugby Lions team who were a year older than our lads. After a level first half the visitors strength took over and they ran out comfortable winners. Next on the horizon was re match against Dundee Eagles with revenge very much on Dunbar players minds. The win looked good but a last minute penalty which came off the post on its way over saw visitors win by one point. The boys played a full on attacking game throughout the season which was a pleasure to watch. Only twice in the season did they kick penalties which maybe if they had taken more 2/3 results might have been different. The season finished with the following stats; Played 18, Won 12, Lost 6 with 541 points for with 233 against. Credit must go to the boys for their dedication both at training and on the field. It has also been a great credit to the Rugby Club to put out under 16 teams two seasons in a row and hopefully the trend continues. Thanks to all the parents who helped out with transport during the season and for all their support. Thanks to Bobby Peters and Gordon Presly for their support and to Douglas Robertson for turning up at most games to run the line. Thanks also to our Development officers Mark Coull and Steve Wands for their dedication. Thanks also from myself and the boys for all the support from the staff at Hallhill. Special mention goes to our prop Rhuri Mitchell who represented Edinburgh atU16 in all their matches. Also for last seasons players Gary Peebles who represented Borders at under 17. Robbie Wilson last years U16 captain who just turned 16 in December represented Edinburgh at U18 and also more importantly played all matches for Scotland under 17s. This shows that we are doing the right thing and with mini numbers rising it should be a common thing in the future. Development in future We have been holding regular meetings to produce a club structure for coaching standards for all teams under our wing including school teams. Player development will be another priority both individually and collectively. We hope to have head coach, assistant coach, team manager and assistant for all teams. Next year we will have an under 18 team for the first time in 3 or 4 years which is very encouraging. They will be coached by Steve Wands and David Laird which will be a very dynamic unit. We will also have S1s under Mike Perrings leadership, Involvement at S2 with the school. Scott Willens and David Johnston will lead the under 15s at the school and Cal Low will be taking over the under 16 team from myself and other coaches. Steve Wands along with Ross McKenzie will continue as last season and run development team at under 14. We still are short of a few helpers which we hope to have in place shortly but if anyone feels they have something to offer then see Steve Wands or any of the coaches. Everything seems rosy in the garden at the moment with a very successful mini section but we cannot become complacent. Funding and sponsorship will be a major factor for the club in the next few seasons so we all need to work harder to secure a bright future for rugby in Dunbar. With a 4 year old keen on playing rugby I will be moving to mini rugby next year at P1 level with Colin Martin but will assist Scott and David one night a week and also deal with managing 16s and 18s as far as organising referees, team sheets , registration, meetings etc. Courses Steve Wands The club is committed to developing coaches, first aid officers, referees etc with club having coaching co-ordinators etc. Dunbar Rugby Football Club - Est. 1923 PresidentSecretaryTreasurerMr. J Callow 3 Little Pinkerton Dunbar, East Lothian EH42 1RX Tel: 01368863144Mr Billy Low 8 Gala Green Dunbar, East Lothian EH42 1NQ Tel. 01368 863765 Email:billy.low@jrknowles.comMr. Colin Martin 7 Bruntsfield Crescent Dunbar, East Lothian EH421QZ Tel. 01368860302 Email: colintmartin@btinternet.com #$%&ABejkly{ȼvjfZLZ9%h,Eh,E5>*CJOJQJ\aJhRhR5H*OJQJhRhR5OJQJhRh,ECJOJQJaJhRCJOJQJaJ%h,Eh,E5>*CJOJQJ\aJh,Eh,ECJOJQJaJh;6CJOJQJ^JhCJOJQJ^Jh;XCJOJQJ^Jh;XOJQJ^J"h;X9B* CJ0OJQJ^Jph6jh;X9B* CJOJQJU^JmHnHphu !"#$%&ABkl_ ` gdgd,E$a$gd,EgdRgd,Egd,Egd,E ] gd)tо{nanUF7hgC^h,ECJOJQJaJhZRxhCJOJQJaJhZRxCJOJQJaJhZRx5CJOJQJaJh5CJOJQJaJhh,E5>*CJOJQJaJh(s 5>*CJOJQJaJhZRx5>*CJOJQJaJ"hNdhgC^5>*CJOJQJaJ"hNdhR5>*CJOJQJaJ"hNdhNd5>*CJOJQJaJh>*CJOJQJaJhNdhR>*CJOJQJaJ ^ _ ` r !
