He stays close to his fly half (10) and hits the ball up, straight and hard if there are no other options available. He is also a defensive leader. Physical Importance He needs to develop powerful running and be capable of getting over the gain line every time. He should focus on leg power from a standing start and upper body strength to be able to retain the ball in contact even if faced by two defenders. Use resisted running to develop leg power. One player holds the waist band of the runners shorts and provides some resistance. Run with resistance for three metres and then the resisting player lets go so the runner can accelerate away. Add in a side step or a defender to beat once the resistance has gone. Key Technique An offload out of the tackle from the inside centre is very hard to defend against. Two Key Factors for the Offload Attack the sides of the defender and force them to make a side-on tackle. When contact is taken pump the legs hard to get beyond the tackle. Push the hands forward to get the ball past the tackler. Only pass when the support player is in view. Give a soft pass for the player to run on to. If the pass isnt on hold the ball, go to ground and present it instead. Tactical Nous The inside centre is perfectly placed to organise the midfield defence. He has the job of making sure the fly half (10) and outside centre (13) get into the right defensive positions and move forward in a straight line at the same speed. Mental Strength The inside centre has to have a similar mindset to a back row player. He needs to be confident and calm under pressure and be able to focus on the important cues from the opposition. He needs to be able to quickly analyse what he sees and pass on this information to his team. !\] 2 3 4 j k % & [ \ < = Z [ \ i j k ͿͿͿͱͿͿ͟ͿͿͿͿͿͿͿͿͿͿͿ͟ͿͿhDr5CJOJQJ^JaJ#hDrhDr5CJOJQJ^JaJhoCJOJQJ^JaJhDrCJOJQJ^JaJ hDrhDrCJOJQJ^JaJhDr5CJOJQJ^JaJ#hDrhDr5CJOJQJ^JaJ1 ! 3 4 [ \ j k , - p q R S a $ & Fa$gdDr$a$gdDrw + - \ ] o q 9 : Q S ` a b ?@OPQ`abظwظh2CJOJQJ^JaJ hDr5CJOJQJ\^JaJ&hDrhDr5CJOJQJ\^JaJhDrCJOJQJ^JaJ hDrhDrCJOJQJ^JaJhDr5CJOJQJ^JaJ#hDrhDr5CJOJQJ^JaJ)hDrhDrB*CJOJQJ^JaJph.a b PQabw$a$gdDr ?@w hDrhDrCJOJQJ^JaJhDrCJOJQJ^JaJ,1h/ =!"#$% @@@ NormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH DAD Default Paragraph FontRiR Table Normal4 l4a (k(No Listw zw !34[\jk,-pq RSabPQaby!!!s!s!s!s!s!s!s!s!s!s!s!s!G!s!G!s!G!s!G!s!G!s!G!s!s!s!s!s!s!s!s !34[\jk,-pq RSabPQaby00000000000000 00 00 00 00 00 000000000yZ00F w a w w 8?yOy 9:QS`a?@OPQQ`a ?@vvyy\v:ށh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHohpp^p`OJQJo(hHh@ @ ^@ `OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHoh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHohPP^P`OJQJo(hH\v )(\ J_K &!
