SPECTATORS CODE OF PRACTICE By establishing a code practice Maindy Corries seeks to develop good practice to ensure that young players can enjoy and benefit both physically and socially from playing association football. Good Practice Always promote fair play. Accept that striving to win and doing ones best is more important than winning itself. Show good sportsmanship, respect and fair play to opponents and officials. Appreciate and praise good play from opponents. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of gender, ethnic origin or cultural background. Enjoy winning, its fun, dont gloat, accept losing, it happens learn from it. COACHES/MANAGERS Code of Behaviour 1. Remember children participate and that winning is only part of the fun. 2. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing. 3. Be reasonable in your demands on young players time energy and enthusiasm. Remember their priorities may be different from yours! 4. Teach your players to follow the rules. To respect officials and opponents. 5. Whenever possible group players to ensure that everyone has a reasonable chance of success. 6. Avoid overplaying the talented players. The just average need and deserve equal time. 7. Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of the players. 8. Develop the teams respect for the ability of opponents and for the judgement of officials and opposing coaches. 9. Follow the advice of a physician or club medical officer when determining when an injured player is ready to recommence training or playing. 10 Keep up to date with the latest coaching practices and the principals. 11. Be fully aware of the growth and development of children. 12 Be punctual for all matches/training sessions. PARENTS Code of Behaviour 1. Remember that children play sport for their enjoyment and not yours. 2. Encourage children to participate do not force them. 3. Focus on the childs efforts and performance rather than winning or losing. 4. Encourage children to play within the rules. 5. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game. 6. Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good play by all teams. 7. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities. 8. Respect officials decisions and teach children to do likewise. 9. Show appreciation of volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them your child could not participate. 10. If you have any issues with the coaches/managers approach them after the match or coaching session not during. 11. If you have any concerns about the way in which the club operates, which are not dealt with to your satisfaction by the managers/coaches contact the Clubs Welfare Officer. 12. Make any spectators you invite to watch matches aware of the Clubs code of conduct for spectators. 13. Explain to your child and help them understand the difference between the junior competitions Maindy Corries play and professional football. 14. Advise managers/coaches if your child is not available for matches and training. PLAYERS Code of Behaviour 1. Play by the rules. 2. Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the competition. 3. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials or other players deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted in any sport. 4. Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your teams performance will benefit so will you. 5. Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether they are by your team or the opposition. 6. Treat all players as you would like to treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take unfair advantage of another player. 7. Co-operate with your coach, team mates and opponent. Without them there would be no competition. 8. Play for fun and not just to please parents and coaches. 9. Wear your Maindy Corries kit for all matches. ADMINISTRATORS Code of Conduct 1. Involve young people in the planning, leadership, evaluation and decision making related to the activity. 2. Give all children equal opportunities to participate. 3. Ensure the rules, equipment length of games and training schedules suit the age, ability and maturity level of the participants. 4. Provide quality supervision and instruction for junior players. 5. Remember that children participate for enjoyment. Dont over emphasise awards. 6. Help coaches and officials highlight appropriate behaviour and skill development and help improve the standards of coaching and officiating. 7. Give a code of behaviour sheet to spectators, officials, parents, coaches, players and encourage them to stick to it. 9. Remember that you set an example. Your behaviour and comments should be positive and supportive. 10 Support the implementation of the National Development Programme of the FAW. SPECTATORS Code of Conduct 1. Remember that children play sport for their enjoyment, not yours. 2. Applaud good performance and efforts of each team. Congratulate all participants upon their performance regardless of the games outcome. 3. Respect officials decision and teach children to do the same. 4. Never ridicule or scold a child for making a mistake. Positive comments are motivational. 5 Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it spectators, coaches, officials or players. 6 Show respect for your teams opponents.
